14,000 Afghan soldiers killed in 13 years of conflict KABUL: (MEP) – Based on recent statistics released by the Governance and Secretariat of the Council of Ministerial National Assembly of Afghanistan, nearly 14,000 Afghan soldiers have lost their lives during the past 13 years in Afghanistan while combating the Taliban and about 17,000 others have been injured, officials said. The findings of the institution reveal that during this period 12,336 civilians were also killed and 11,607 others wounded and about 3 billion in Afghan currency has been distributed to the families of victims. The head of public relationship and information of the Ministerial National Assembly Sayed Jawad Jawid said, “During the past one decade of war the Afghan Government has paid considerable attention to the victim’s family and based on available statistics, around 1.3 billion Afghanis has been granted to the families of those disabled or deceased while in military service.” Meanwhile, an MP in the lower house of parliament, Ramazan Bashardost has refuted the claim saying, “The Afghan government has not provided enough assistance to families of soldiers who have lost their lives combating the Taliban over the years.” Member of Parliament, Baktash Seiawaash who has announced his support for Afghan soldiers has demanded that the government provide the details of all assistance that has been provided to them and share the information with all.” Governance and Secretariat of the Council of Ministers has rejected the criticism for not having supported the families of Afghan soldiers injured or killed in the line of duty and has claimed that around 2 billion Afghani has already been granted as aid to the victim’s families.
